Ultrasonic inspection systems consist of several units including a pulser/receiver, transducer, and a display device. Ultrasonic waves will travel through the inspection material in a straight line until they hit a surface. Once this happens, the amount of reflected vs. the amount of transmitted energy is detected and provides a reading as to the extent of the flaw.
