COATING OR PAINT TESTING

Yet another thickness test that we offer at Steel City NDT LLC is coatings or paint testing. We are capable of utilizing paint and coating inspection gauges in order to measure the thickness of any outer coating. We are also able to locate holidays, pin holes and voids in any object. With the use of high voltage and/or low voltage holiday detectors, we are given the ability to locate film discontinuities through the use of electricity. Low and high voltage detectors are chosen based off of coating thicknesses. Pinholes may also be detected utilizing a pin hole detector. This equipment is used to find pinholes, flaws and porosity in non-conductive coatings. These are very accurate and can only be used on coatings which contain a substrate that is made from a conductive material.
