VISUAL TESTING -VT

Visual Testing (VT) can be performed in a variety of codes or specifications. This testing methodology simply relies on sight, sometimes with the assistance of a flashlight, mirrors, or magnifying glass, to interpret visual anomalies to determine the integrity of welds, components, and assemblies. VT is the oldest and one of the most reliable Nondestructive Testing methods. VT can be applied to almost any application as a quality assurance tool.

VT is considered one of the most cost-effective inspection methods as it provides detailed insight on the surface of a component, assembly, or weld without needing the use of expensive equipment. This method is used alongside many of the other NDT inspection methods, such as UT, PT, or MT, more often than not in order to perform the most comprehensive inspection possible.
